Job Description
Our client, a large financial services company, is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure and Security Architect for a 12+ month remote contract assignment.
About this Role:
The Senior Infrastructure and Security Architect is responsible for planning, defining, and communicating the solution architecture for an infrastructure or security related project. That architecture depicts the components of the solution from an application, data, integration, infrastructure, network, security and operations aspects and the evolution of those components over time. That solution architecture is used as basis for building and running the solution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, ownership, and communication of the solution architecture for an infrastructure or security related project which typically entails modifying existing applications or implementing a SaaS application and integrating it with other applications. This includes developing the application, data, integration, infrastructure, network, security and operations views of the architecture and their alignment with the business architecture
- An infrastructure or security related project may cover one or more of the following areas:
- Infrastructure services
- Network services
- Security services
- IT Operations services
- End user computing services
- Communication and collaboration services
- Cloud services
- Performs evaluation and selection of infrastructure or security related vendor products and solutions
- Collaborates with enterprise domain and other solution architects to ensure integrity of solution, alignment with enterprise architecture strategies and adherence to reference architectures and standards
- Works with internal and external implementation teams in validating the feasibility of the proposed solution and providing technical guidance to those teams during implementation
- Reviews the technical design created by implementation teams and ensures its alignment with the solution architecture
- Supports implementation teams by guiding them in building and configuring solutions according to the architecture
- Participates in project planning and maintains related project architecture artifacts
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- 10+ years of experience architecting solutions
- 7+ years working with multiple technologies in the areas of:
- Infrastructure (e.g., archiving, back up, high availability, disaster recovery, directory services)
- Network (e.g., network connectivity, SDWAN, VPN, DIA, multi-cloud routing, cloud connectivity brokers, DNS, dynamic vs. static routing)
- Security (e.g., identity and access management, network security, application and platform security, vulnerability management, encryption, security monitoring, security information and event management, cloud security)
- Operations (e.g., hardware, network and application monitoring, incident management, service management, cloud operations, cloud governance)
- End user computing (e.g., desktop, mobile, laptop, printers, desktop software, telephony, video conferencing, chat, messaging)
- 2+ years working with IaaS, PaaS, SaaS services on Azure
- Ability to understand and apply abstract architectural concepts at an enterprise level
- Broad understanding of reference architectures and design patterns in the areas of infrastructure and security
- Experience with or knowledge of using one or more formal architecture frameworks such as FEAF, TOGAF, or Zachman; certification in any of them is a plus
- Experience working with or knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey architectural concepts to business and technology peers
- Effective influencing and negotiating skills
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple large, complex projects with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience, Master’s degree in Computer Science is a plus
