Coordinator for Communications & Ministry Programs
Job Description
The Coordinator for Communications & Ministry Programs will create, organize, plan, and implement effective communications and strategies with and for church and community audiences.  The Coordinator will support church and ministry leaders in conveying vision and information in a timely and effective manner. The Coordinator will work with the members and staff to engage the community in all aspects of the church’s ministries and support the planning and implementation of programs in the Mission, Engagement, Education, and Family Ministries.Â
Hours: 40/week
Status: Full-time, non-exempt
Reports to: Associate Pastor for Mission and Engagement
Areas of Responsibility: CommunicationsÂ
- Create and/or coordinate content (graphics and copy) for all program-related communications, including but not limited to:
- Weekly churchwide email newsletter
- Targeted ministry area emails
- Social media
- Flyers and print media
- Certain website updates
- Other communications to the congregation as requested.
- Coordinate and maintain timelines for the above communications and specific program promotions included in the above communications.
- Monitor and update ministries’ web presence with specific focus on calendar and event/program promotion.
- Edit marketing materials and newsletters to ensure that brand standards, grammar, and style guidelines are maintained.
- Be responsive to the needs of members and ministry areas; assist groups/committees/ministries on the use of communications and planning for communications.
- Create and maintain timely and relevant content for digital monitors and frames across campus.Â
- Collaborate with Digital Media Specialist to ensure integration of brand and messaging across communication platforms.
- Photograph or coordinate photography for church events. Maintain files of photo assets and coordinate their effective use in all communications platforms.
- Assist with the creation of the annual report.
- Maintain use and integrity of the church’s brand.
Area of Responsibility: Support for Associate Pastors and Ministry Programs - Support the work of the clergy and directors working in Communications, Mission, Engagement, Education, and Family Ministries.
- Assist in planning for ministry-related meetings and events, including calendaring, registration management, catering, and setup and technology requests. Reserve space using internal facilities management system.
- Plan for and coordinate meetings and corresponding materials as requested.
- Interface with members seeking assistance with church administration, including accessing communication platforms and reserving space for meetings/gatherings.
- Assist with list management for ministry areas and coordinate timelines for program promotion.
- Maintain up to date mailing lists for ministry areas; coordinate with other staff members to ensure timely and relevant communications to area-specific email lists.
- Monitor, update, and maintain church database as requested
- Attend meetings & program functions as needed.Â
Area of Responsibility: Engagement
- Assist with maintenance of membership rolls.Â
- Generate weekly welcome and visitor communications.
- Track participation in new member processes.
- Communicate membership changes to other churches.
- Assist with planning and coordination of congregation-wide events and gathering opportunities.
- Work with small group/circle leaders to plan and organize gatherings.
- Coordinate youth ministry logistics, including ordering youth supper, creating event invitations, and organizing supplies.
- Work alongside the Associate Pastor for Family Ministries and the Director of Finance and Operations to maintain MinistrySafe trainings and background checks for staff and volunteers in Family Ministries.
- Assist in the setup, coordination, and preparation for seasonal programming.
- Assist with administration and organization of Grant Program.
- Coordinate with staff and members in planning and executing congregation-wide mission opportunities.Â
- Manage details around donation collections.
- Assist in planning and logistics for local mission engagement opportunities and trips.
Area of Responsibility: Other ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Provide back-up support to other administrative staff as needed.Â
- Attend staff meetings; attend other committee meetings as requested.Â
- Other duties as assigned.Â
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, organization, and attention to detail.
- Creativity and vision; expertise in communications strategy and best use of various platforms.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and highly attentive to detail.Â
- Must manage time and multiple deadlines well and have flexibility to work on occasional nights and weekends.Â
- Discretion, good judgment, and maintenance of strict confidentiality.
- Positivity, creativity, and excitement about the work at hand and the team dynamic of the staff.
- Commitment to the overall mission of the church and staff team.
- Proficiency with software and platforms necessary for effective church communications, including Constant Contact, Canva, social media outlets, Adobe Suite, Zoom, Power Point, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Event planning experience preferred
- Comfort and facility with people; ability to interact respectfully with those of diverse backgrounds.
- Compliance with all policies, including  Child Protection Policy.
Salary range for this position is $55,000-60,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc.Â
