Finance & Accounting Specialist
Job Description
Our client is a fast-growing, health tech e-commerce startup delivering premium pediatric health and wellness products to parents to help care for their children. They are in an exciting phase of rapid growth and are seeking a Finance & Accounting Specialist.
This role is based in based in Midtown Atlanta, so candidates must be local. A hybrid work schedule is offered.
Role Overview:
You will be essential in streamlining and overseeing various elements of the company’s financial operations. This role requires a dynamic professional with experience in executing and managing accounts payable and receivable, accounting/bookkeeping, reimbursement processes, sales tax management & oversight, external vendor management, and financial planning & analysis.
How You'll Make a Difference:
You’re vital in managing and overseeing the day-to-day accounting and finance processes both internally and working with external partners. You’ll ensure that external vendors meet or exceed their committed service levels and help define, optimize, and execute company financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Set up new vendors, code expenses, schedule payments, and maintain accurate and organized records of all payments/receivables
- Work and communicate cross-functionally to define and verify all incoming bills
- Maintain and optimize monthly accrual and prepaid expense processes
COGS Tracking & Management
- Execute and optimize COGS tracking processes including booking all inventory, freight, and tariff costs by SKU to maintain accurate costs and facilitate bookkeeping
- Export, analyze, and track monthly sales, customer service, and product marketing data by SKU to support accurate bookkeeping
General Accounting/Bookkeeping
- Collaborate with and manage external bookkeeper as needed to review GL mappings, prepaid/amortization schedules, and other accounting processes including all manual journal entries
- Facilitate monthly close to enable speed and accuracy of analysis and reporting
- Process expense reports to ensure company policy is being adhered to and issue reimbursement payments as needed
- Sales and use tax oversight and management - meet with vendor on a monthly basis to review any outstanding issues or tasks and ensure filings are accurate and timely
- Coordinate access and verify connections between platforms to facilitate sales tax management (TaxJar, Shopify, Amazon, etc.)
- Perform intermittent cost/benefit analysis of current solution for sales tax management and other market solutions
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Operations, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a finance/accounting role
- Experience managing vendors and executing financial/accounting processes
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and QuickBooks Online
- Proficiency and/or familiarity with Reach Reporting, Shopify, A2X, TaxJar, PayPal, Amazon Payments strongly preferred
- Critical thinker with strong attention to detail and ability to establish and adhere to financial processes in a high-growth and fast-paced environment
- Effective communicator verbally and through written correspondence across all levels of peers, leadership, and external vendors
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage goals and initiatives amidst competing priorities
- E-commerce experience is preferred
- Experience with ERP and/or WMS systems is a plus
- Startup experience is a plus
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus
Base Salary $70,000-$80,000. Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc.
