Lead Auditor- Unsecured Lending

Job Description

A major financial services company is seeking a Lead Auditor-Unsecured Lending for a direct hire position. This position will be hybrid with 3 days per week in the office located in any of the following cities: Wilmington, DE; Fort Washington, PA; Charlotte, NC or Detroit, MI.

The Lead Auditor is primarily responsible for leading and executing assigned audit and advisory activities primarily related to unsecured lending, including credit card, risks and processes. Responsible for demonstrating skills in identifying and assessing process risks and controls, documenting business processes including the supporting applications, identifying and evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of controls, developing, executing, documenting and reviewing audit tests/workpapers, and coaching of assigned team members. During the audit process, completes work in accordance with Audit Methodology, all applicable standards, and defined plans, budgets, and schedules. The position plays a key role on the Compliance and Legal audit team, including providing coaching and feedback to team members, participation in on-going continuous monitoring activities, and active in involvement in other team and department initiatives.

The Work Itself
  • Establish open and effective communication with management and work collaboratively with functional partners across the organization during the completion of audit activities.
  • Audit projects will include unsecured lending processes, including credit card and personal lending Leads (act as auditor-in-charge) the execution and documentation of all phases of assigned audits in accordance with Audit Services Methodology.
  • Leads the development of audit scope, testing procedures, and testing approaches to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance, and risk management, including detailed test of design, test of effectiveness, substantive testing, and data analytics (if applicable). Generally, leads one audit project at a time.
  • Performs project management of assigned audits, including execution within defined budgets and timelines, and timely communication with Audit management.
  • Supervises assigned auditors on a project-by-project basis to assess audit staff against established performance and leadership criteria; provide timely, honest, and meaningful feedback and project evaluations.
  • Can easily identify root causes and articulate their relevance. Provides meaningful recommendations. Train, mentor, and develop staff auditors and act as a knowledge resource.
  • Support continuous process improvement by identifying needs and opportunities and recommending appropriate process changes; champion common audit process approach; recommend process changes to maintain the highest quality standards.
The Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study preferred, not required
  • 4+ years of financial services/audit experience, with credit card focus strongly preferred
  • Relevant certification (CAMS, CIA, CPA, CISA) preferred
  • Well-developed project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, deadline driven, self-directed and organized individual.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proven ability to excel in highly interactive team environment.
  • Understands risk and control concepts and can apply knowledge to business processes.
  • Experience coaching and developing team members.
  • Demonstrated ability of effectively navigating uncertainty and using judgment to manage complex situations and solve problems.
  • Ability to adapt to change and new challenges that arise.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data analytic tools or other Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs) a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Available to travel (minimal).
Skills and Certifications
  • Required- 4 years of financial services/Audit experience with Credit Card or un-secured lending
  • Relevant certifications CAMS, CIA, CPA, CISA - preferred
