Proposal Technical Writer
Job Description
You will be responsible for writing clear, easy-to-understand manuals and guides for customers to use when receiving their product. The technical writing team uses relevant software programs, engineering drawings, and knowledge from the project team to create these manuals.
Technical writers must understand grammatical conventions and write in a clear and fluent manner. Technical writers should be highly self-motivated and autonomous workers. Technical writers must be excellent researchers so they can accurately explain their topic to the reader. This will require the ability to learn new technologies, read drawings, and write technical information in clear and concise language.
You will work closely with the project team, so strong communication skills are a must.
Core Responsibilities and Tasks
- Write installation, operation, and maintenance manuals
- Maintain company style and brand standards within the document
- Review documents for errors in spelling, punctuation, formatting, accuracy, etc.
- Communicate with project team members
- Upload and edit documents using relevant computer programs
- Assist in meeting project/customer requirements
- Customer satisfaction
- Bachelor’s degree in related field—engineering, technical writing, communications, etc.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office—Word, Outlook, Teams
- High attention to detail and accuracy

- Professional communication skills—emails, phone calls, IMs

- Ability to regularly learn and adapt to new technologies
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Ability to create and edit PDFs
- Experience with InDesign
- Experience using SAP
- Experience with Vault Pro
- Previous technical writing experience
- Previous engineering experience
- Previous document design experience
