Job Description

Our client is a world-leading provider of equipment and services to the semiconductor manufacturing industry. For thirty-five years, chipmakers from around the globe have relied on the company’s systems and process expertise to form the transistors that power all electronics - from smart phones and tablets, to laptops, personal music players and more. They have an immediate need for a Senior Reliability Quality Engineer to lead/direct multiple reliability engineering projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering - Product Reliability and Product Validation, this is a full-time position, working 2-3 days/week in the client’s Beverly office.

The ideal candidate will champion reliability across the corporation and be intimately involved in concurrent product development. S/he will actively facilitate and participate in improvement of new product development processes, Design for Reliability (DfR) activities and sustaining products/field reliability. The position requires active and continuous interaction with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain to ensure reliability requirements are well defined, understood, incorporated, and met in their processes and products. As the Product Development Engineer focused on Reliability, you will lead or direct multiple reliability engineering projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. You will also work with other product development engineers to ensure proliferation of DfR methods and processes into new product developments. The engineer is expected to plan, lead and perform reliability verification and validation tests, supporting the qualification of parts/assemblies in support of release.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Understand customer requirements, product specifications and product application and how it relates to part/product/process and lead the qualification in support of release.
  • Participate in Design Reviews and work with Engineering to drive DfR process and tools and support in defining and executing Reliability plans.
  • Develop system reliability models and perform thermos-mechanical simulations at the component level.
  • Work with product support and field service organizations to gather data for reliability metrics.
  • Drives Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions towards successful implementation of solutions.
  • Use the reliability data to define product improvements (both hardware and software).
  • Travel to customer sites, as required. Work with multiple customer and service organizations worldwide.
  • Reviews Engineering Change Requests for their impact on Reliability.

Deliverables:
The Engineer would create the work products delivering the end-to-end reliability requirements for the product life cycle, not limiting to the following:
  • Develop Reliability plans, reliability requirements, DFMEAs, reliability test protocols for Accelerated reliability tests, reliability growth tests, etc. and executes the reliability plans leading to Reliability reports.
  • Report reliability metrics based on data gathered from customers, service organization, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Develop reliability models and perform thermo-mechanical simulations at the component level.
  • Develop reliability statistical analysis and reports.
  • Plan, use, and report using reliability growth models for reliability measurement and improvement.
  • Report and forecast typical reliability metrics (MTBFp, MTBF, Availability, etc.)


Basic Requirements:
  • BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering field with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Reliability Engineering.
  • Candidates with MS degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering with relevant experience in Reliability Engineering or CRE certification would be preferred.
  • Experience in Reliability and statistical analysis software like Reliasoft/PTC Windchill/Minitab is required.
  • Semiconductor capital equipment experience with SEMI-standard reliability metrics is a strong plus.

  • Able to travel to supplier sites worldwide (10% travel.)
  • Semiconductor capital equipment experience with SEMI-standard reliability metrics is a strong plus.


Base Salary range $150,000 - $165,000, plus 10% target bonus.  Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of skills, level of  experience and leadership.
